Description

PURPOSE:

 

To provide an educational atmosphere in which students will develop intellectual leadership and physical skills consistent with the philosophy, goals and objectives of the district and the relevant branch of the military.

 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS INCLUDE:

 

  • Meet and exceed MCJROTC and Worcester County Public Schools’ program requirements and expectations.
  • Teaching the prescribed 4 year curriculum.
  • Instructing in military drills.
  • Counseling students in the MCJROTC Program
  • Writing/updating lessons plans for the MCJROTC curriculum and other lesson preparation requirements.
  • Mentoring cadets and assisting with higher education or employment opportunities and goals.
  • Planning extracurricular activities for the MCJROTC units (including color and honor guard ceremonies, drill team and rifle team competitive meets, field trips, basic leadership training, etc.).
  • Preparing periodic reports on program administration and logistics.
  • Making annual presentations at incoming schools for the purpose of recruiting new cadets into the program.
  • Establishing contact with civic groups to obtain their recognition and support of the MCJROTC program.
  • Keeping current on new developments and organizations within the appropriate branch of service.
  • Assessing unit progress to assure that the MCJROTC program objectives are met.
  • Attending military sponsored training to keep abreast of current requirements of program management.
  • Taking courses of instruction to improve teaching abilities.
  • Establishing rapport with school counselors and faculty members.
  • Maintaining financial accounts of operating budget.
  • Teach allied/ancillary courses as needed.

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

 

  • Bachelor’s degree from accredited college or university.
  • Verification of retirement from the Marine Corps.
  • Verification from the military regarding eligibility to be an instructor.

 

 

 

DUTY YEAR AND SALARY:

 

            Salary is based on the Minimum Instructor Pay as determined by Marine Corps JROTC plus a local increment or appropriate instructional scale.
