Description

POSITION: Speech-Language Pathologist- part-time contractual

Provides integrated services for students with varying disabilities in the local school system.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS INCLUDE:

• Screens, evaluates, and provides appropriate services to children with speech and language disorders at a middle school. Ability to apply skills to school-based therapy by relating intervention programs to curricular outcomes.
• Consults/collaborates with other school personnel regarding the communication of the child’s needs and goals as set forth in the Individualized Education Program (IEP).
• Effective oral and written communication, human relations, and time management skills.
• Develops plans instructional materials for individual or group instruction to meet the needs of each child.
• Assesses the progress of children on a regular basis.
• Maintains communication with parents to discuss progress on goals and provide activities for home to reinforce skills.
• Completes required documentation including evaluations, progress notes, service logs, Medical Assistance notes, IEPs and quarterly progress reports in a timely and accurate manner.
• Participates in staff meetings and professional development activities.
• Participates in IEP meetings and parent conferences.
• Performs other duties as directed by the supervisor.


QUALIFICATIONS:

• Working knowledge of the field of speech-language pathology, child development, educational disabilities, and legal regulations regarding early intervention and special education.
• Ability to apply skills to school-based therapy by relating intervention programs to curricular outcomes.
• Effective oral and written communication, human relations, and time management skills.
• Master’s Degree from an accredited college or university in speech-language pathology.
• Current licensure from the Department of Health and Mental Hygiene, Maryland State Board of Audiologist, Hearing Aid Dispensers and Speech-Language Pathologists.
• Also prefer that the candidate has Certificate of Clinical Competence (CCC) awarded by the American Speech-Language Hearing Association (ASHA) or be CFY (Clinical Fellowship Year) eligible.


DUTY YEAR AND SALARY:

This is a contractual part- time position for 3 days a week Salary is based on the appropriate teachers’ scale.
