POSITION:   Pre-Engineering Teacher – Worcester Technical High School

 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS INCLUDE:

 

• Creates a classroom environment that is conducive to learning and appropriate to the maturity level of the students.
• Implements established curriculum.
• Employs instructional methods and materials that support curriculum objectives.
• Assesses the progress of students on a regular basis and maintains accurate records.
• Participates in ongoing professional development.
• Responsible for maintaining current licensure, certification, or registration regulations administered by professional organizations or legally constituted authorities in the state in the career area to be taught.
• Teach 3-4 course preparations. Courses include: computer science, engineering, and physics.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:

 

• Preferred degree in an engineering field, computer science, or physics.
• Preferred employment experience in engineering.
• Preferred experience working with high-school-aged students.
• Possess leadership and personal qualities necessary to work effectively with students, teachers, parents, and administrators.
• Must hold a valid Maryland teacher certificate/license in the related field.
• Must be willing to attend paid residential summer professional development.
• Preferred Project Lead the Way Pre-Engineering experience or attend Project Lead the Way summer professional learning/training.

 

DUTY YEAR AND SALARY:

 

This is a 10-month position.  Salary is based on the appropriate teachers' scale and engineering employment experience.
